Terms of Service

You must be at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. When creating an account, you agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials secure, and accept responsibility for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at support@self-publish.ai of any unauthorized use.

You may delete your account at any time through your account settings or by emailing support@self-publish.ai. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms with 30 days notice, except for severe violations requiring immediate action.

Self-Publish.ai provides an integrated publishing platform including manuscript editing and analysis, cover design and interior formatting, EPUB and PDF export, publishing preparation and metadata management, and marketing copy tools. Preparing a book for a retailer means producing the files and metadata that retailer requires; uploading them is something you do yourself, as described in Section 6.

Self-Publish.ai is a platform and toolset. We are not a publisher, literary agent, or distributor. We do not acquire rights to your work, make editorial decisions on your behalf, or guarantee commercial success of any book.

"Your Content" means any manuscripts, images, cover designs, audio files, metadata, and other materials you upload or create on the Platform. You retain full ownership of all intellectual property rights in Your Content. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership to Self-Publish.ai.

You grant Self-Publish.ai a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, store, process, and transmit Your Content solely to operate the Platform and provide services to you. This license exists only while Your Content is on the Platform and terminates when you delete it, subject to the retention period set out in the Privacy Policy.

We will never use Your Content to train machine learning models, AI systems, or any automated systems, whether owned by Self-Publish.ai or third parties.

Content generated through Platform tools (cover concepts, descriptions, marketing copy) is owned by you. However, similar outputs may be generated for other users with similar inputs, and you are responsible for reviewing all generated content before publication.

You may request a copy of your account data at any time from your account settings. Downloading a finished book in a given format (DOCX, EPUB, PDF) is a paid action: it costs credits, is charged once per book per format, and is not available on the Free plan. Once paid, that format stays downloadable for that book. On account deletion your data is erased after the grace period set out in the Privacy Policy.

You agree not to

• Upload content that infringes third-party intellectual property rights

• Upload defamatory, threatening, or hateful content, or content that exploits minors

• Distribute malware or attempt unauthorized access to the Platform

• Use the Platform for unlawful purposes or scrape/data-mine beyond normal usage

• Resell or sublicense access to the Platform

• Upload fully automated content and represent it as originally authored

We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate this policy with notice and opportunity to respond, except in cases involving illegal activity or imminent harm.

Self-Publish.ai offers a free account and one paid subscription, billed either monthly or yearly. It renews until you cancel. Credits are purchased separately from the subscription, at prices that depend on which account type you hold.

Account types

There are two account types. Both can use the platform and both can buy credits.

• Free Account: $0. No included credits, one free Daily Credit Roulette spin per day, and credits are bought at the standard rate.

• Subscriber, billed monthly: $9.99 per month, recurring. Includes 100 credits on each monthly renewal date, one free Daily Credit Roulette spin per day on which the larger awards occur more frequently than on a Free account, and 50% off every credit purchase, with larger packages discounted further.

• Subscriber, billed yearly: $95.90 per year, recurring, which is 20% less than twelve monthly payments and works out at $7.99 a month. Same benefits as the monthly subscription.

A yearly subscription is charged once, up front, for the twelve months ahead. Its 100 credits are deposited monthly, on each monthly anniversary of the start date, for twelve months. They are not deposited as a lump sum at the start of the year. Credits never expire, so if you cancel partway through a paid year, you keep every credit already deposited and the remaining monthly deposits do not occur.

The subscription provides access to the platform's tools. Individual actions inside those tools may still require credits.

Credit prices

• 100 credits: $100 on a Free account ($1.00 per credit), $50 for Subscribers ($0.50 per credit)

• 1,000 credits: $1,000 on a Free account ($1.00 per credit), $250 for Subscribers ($0.25 per credit)

How credits work

Credits pay for AI features (editing, manuscript evaluation, cover design, interior design) and for downloading a finished book in a given format. A format download is charged once per book per format and is yours permanently after that.

• Credits never expire. Subscriber credits, purchased credits and Daily Credit Roulette credits all remain in your account until used.

• Subscriber credits are deposited monthly and roll over indefinitely. On a monthly subscription that is each renewal date; on a yearly subscription it is each monthly anniversary of the start date, for twelve months.

• Daily Credit Roulette: one spin per UTC calendar day. The amount varies. Spins do not accumulate, so an unused day's spin is lost, but credits won never expire.

Credits have no cash value and are non-transferable between accounts.

Refunds

• Subscription: full refund available within 7 days of payment, provided less than 20% of that month's deposited credits have been consumed. Credits from a separate purchase or from the Daily Credit Roulette do not count toward this threshold.

• Yearly subscriptions and legacy annual plans: full refund available within 30 days of payment, provided less than 20% of the first month's deposited credits have been consumed.

• One-off plans and top-up credit purchases are non-refundable once purchased.

Founding Author Rate

The founding window applied to the legacy annual plans only, and is not available on the Subscriber subscription. The first 100 authors to buy one of those annual plans during the founding window lock in their annual rate for as long as that subscription stays active. The founding rate applies to annual billing only: moving to monthly billing ends it. If a Founding Author subscription is cancelled, the founding rate is forfeited and cannot be reinstated. Once the 100 founding places are taken, later subscribers are charged the standard rate.

Changing plans

Downgrades, including a move from yearly to monthly billing, take effect at the next billing cycle. Upgrades take effect immediately, with a credit adjustment for the remainder of the current cycle. Yearly subscriptions and legacy annual plans are prepaid for 12 months; if cancelled during the term, refund eligibility is governed by the refund policy above, and monthly credit deposits stop at cancellation.

Account deletion

Upon account deletion, unused subscription and bonus credits are forfeited. Top-up credits are non-refundable, but a refund may be requested within 7 days of the most recent top-up purchase.

Self-Publish.ai does not distribute your book. We have no server-side integration with Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, Apple Books, Kobo, Barnes & Noble, or any other retailer or distributor. We do not hold your retailer account credentials, our servers never contact a retailer, and we cannot publish, unpublish, or price a title on your behalf.

What the Platform does is produce the files and metadata a retailer asks for. Submitting them is your act, under your own retailer account, and your relationship with that retailer is governed entirely by its terms, not by these Terms.

Browser extension

We offer an optional browser extension for Amazon KDP, currently in development. If you install it and choose to run it, it reads your book's details from the Platform and, in the KDP tab you already have open and signed in, fills in the KDP form for you, attaches your interior and cover files to KDP's upload fields, and operates in-page controls such as saving your chosen categories.

Two limits on what it does. It never receives or stores your Amazon credentials: it works inside a KDP session you have already signed into yourself. And it does not submit your book for publication. Filling the form is where it stops, so reviewing what is in that form and pressing publish remain yours to do, and you should check the form before you submit it.

Because the extension runs in your browser rather than on our servers, it acts with the permissions you grant it at install time and is subject to your browser vendor's rules. It is still in development, so we do not warrant that it works with any given version of the KDP interface. Installing it is entirely optional and the Platform is fully usable without it.

Services we do use

The Platform is operated with the help of third-party providers, including payment processing (Stripe), hosting and storage, transactional email, and AI model providers. These are our suppliers rather than integrations you connect to, and the current list is published at self-publish.ai/subprocessors.

Self-Publish.ai is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of any third-party service, including any retailer you choose to publish through. Where a feature does depend on a third-party service, we do not guarantee that it will remain available, and we will give reasonable notice if we discontinue it.

Self-Publish.ai respects intellectual property and complies with the DMCA. To report infringement, send a written notice to support@self-publish.ai including: identification of the copyrighted work, location of the infringing material, your contact information, a good faith statement, a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate, and your signature.

Counter-notifications may be submitted to the same address per 17 U.S.C. Section 512(g). Accounts of repeat infringers will be terminated.

Our Privacy Policy (available at self-publish.ai/privacypolicy) governs data collection and use and is incorporated into these Terms. We never sell personal information, never use manuscripts to train AI, collect only necessary data, and comply with GDPR and CCPA.

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. SELF-PUBLISH.AI DOES NOT WARRANT UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE SERVICE. We do not guarantee any publishing outcome including sales, revenue, or bestseller status.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SELF-PUBLISH.AI SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) AMOUNTS PAID IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) $100 USD.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Terp Tech Pub, LLC and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from claims arising from your use of the Platform, Your Content, your violation of these Terms, or disputes with third parties connected through the Platform.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida. Before filing any dispute, contact support@self-publish.ai to attempt informal resolution for 30 days. Unresolved claims go to binding individual arbitration under AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules in Palm Beach County, Florida.

CLASS ACTION WAIVER: Claims may only be brought individually, not as part of any class or representative proceeding. You may opt out of arbitration by writing to Terp Tech Pub, LLC, 2361 Vista Parkway, Unit 1, West Palm Beach, FL 33411 within 30 days of accepting these Terms.

The Platform is operated from the United States. International users consent to data transfer to the US, subject to Privacy Policy protections. EEA/UK/Swiss users are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer protection rights in your jurisdiction.

These Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and Self-Publish.ai. If any provision is unenforceable, it will be modified minimally and remaining provisions continue. Failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; Self-Publish.ai may assign them in connection with a merger or acquisition with notice. Self-Publish.ai is not liable for failures beyond reasonable control (force majeure).
